  • Cheated

ok.  this is a question for those bargain-shopping, coupon clippers out there.

do you ever find out after you've gotten home, days later, or even just after you're back in your vehicle, kid strapped in, ready to head home, that things did not ring up at the cash register to give you quite the stellar deal you thought you were getting?

and what do you do about that?

i'm going to go ahead and say it makes me mad.  pretty mad, usually.  it's so silly--maybe a few dollars worth of not getting what they told me i was getting.  like tonight, for example, i was reading the little label on the deli meat bag while i was making josh's lunch for tomorrow and realized that butterball turkey breast i thought i was getting such a good deal on for $2.99 a pound ends up not being quite such a stellar deal when they actually charged me $4.29 or something per pound.   like i said, not really going to break the bank with how much money i lost but i just don't take the time to double or triple check every price when i go through a grocery store.  i have a little boy to keep straight in the cart, sales to find, coupons to line up, and want to just trust that they're charging me what they said they would.

sometimes i go back.  but usually only if its a significant amount of money or its pretty convenient.  one particular store has done this so many times i am ready to quit shopping there.

but i'm pretty sure its not Christ-like to be so nit-picky over money.

    anyway.  what about you?

  • Blurry phone pictures--our little family headed to downtown Dayton last night.  they have a weekend food, music, and fireworks festival.  there were so many people there!  it was just a lot of fun to grab ethnic food, sit on the sidewalk, and watch people while we waited for the fireworks to start.  the show was worth the wait!

  • Late Spring That Feels Like Summer

This spring has been one of the best that i can remember.  maybe it has something to do with how out of commission i felt last spring and summer with a tiny baby.  i feel so good this spring--back to my normal body and just enjoying so much that i can be outside working and just have my little guy by my side.  jeremiah absolutely loves being outside.  i hope he keeps that up because it makes it easy for me to get work done outside while he plays. he is at probably my favorite stage yet--walking all over, jabbering, exploring, being a good sleeper, but not getting into too many crazy messes yet.

my garden has been such a little pleasure to me this year.  it's been so fun to just have a little plot and see how much i can make of it!  last saturday, josh built me a little stone wall at the end of the garden where it ends in the ditch by the road. then he used the dirt he had taken out of the bank and built me a new raised bed in our back yard. such fun things for me!  it was a gift from him for our anniversary.  we celebrated wednesday and i got to surprise him--picked him up in dayton at work and took him out for mongolian for lunch then spent the afternoon in the gardens in downtown dayton.  it was a beautiful relaxing day.  liz watched jeremiah so we could relax a little!

so here's a few photos so you can see what i'm talking about. :)

my basil has gone wild!  i planted a little herb garden this year--more organized and more variety than i usually do and it's done well.  i'm very excited to make a lemon butter basil sauce with sun dried tomatoes for chicken bryan like carrabba's for dinner tonight.  it's one of josh's favorites.  i look forward to making pesto out of the next huge batch of leaves i harvest .

jeremiah lovin on taliyah from church.  they are about 6 weeks apart and seem to enjoy one another. :)

the other week i watched zebs' kids for lisa's birthday.  what a wild day.  pop ice, the pool, feeding three hungry little mouths at once--yeah, i was glad josh got home early from work!

my little man helping me in the kitchen.  he loves to "help". i'm sure he was making truck noises for the mixer, though. all boy, he is.

and these last two are of my lovely sister who i don't get to see often enough who is due with her third this week!  i can hardly wait to hear about him or her!

  • went downtown with our photographer this afternoon to shoot jeremiah's 1 year pictures (a few weeks late).  he had just woken up and is cutting molars so i'd have to say he wasn't just the happiest camper but i always see the pictures when we are done and am amazed at what she can catch when i think we didn't get much of anything.

here is my wild little boy.
