  • Blurry phone pictures--our little family headed to downtown Dayton last night.  they have a weekend food, music, and fireworks festival.  there were so many people there!  it was just a lot of fun to grab ethnic food, sit on the sidewalk, and watch people while we waited for the fireworks to start.  the show was worth the wait!

  • Late Spring That Feels Like Summer

This spring has been one of the best that i can remember.  maybe it has something to do with how out of commission i felt last spring and summer with a tiny baby.  i feel so good this spring--back to my normal body and just enjoying so much that i can be outside working and just have my little guy by my side.  jeremiah absolutely loves being outside.  i hope he keeps that up because it makes it easy for me to get work done outside while he plays. he is at probably my favorite stage yet--walking all over, jabbering, exploring, being a good sleeper, but not getting into too many crazy messes yet.

my garden has been such a little pleasure to me this year.  it's been so fun to just have a little plot and see how much i can make of it!  last saturday, josh built me a little stone wall at the end of the garden where it ends in the ditch by the road. then he used the dirt he had taken out of the bank and built me a new raised bed in our back yard. such fun things for me!  it was a gift from him for our anniversary.  we celebrated wednesday and i got to surprise him--picked him up in dayton at work and took him out for mongolian for lunch then spent the afternoon in the gardens in downtown dayton.  it was a beautiful relaxing day.  liz watched jeremiah so we could relax a little!

so here's a few photos so you can see what i'm talking about. :)

my basil has gone wild!  i planted a little herb garden this year--more organized and more variety than i usually do and it's done well.  i'm very excited to make a lemon butter basil sauce with sun dried tomatoes for chicken bryan like carrabba's for dinner tonight.  it's one of josh's favorites.  i look forward to making pesto out of the next huge batch of leaves i harvest .

jeremiah lovin on taliyah from church.  they are about 6 weeks apart and seem to enjoy one another. :)

the other week i watched zebs' kids for lisa's birthday.  what a wild day.  pop ice, the pool, feeding three hungry little mouths at once--yeah, i was glad josh got home early from work!

my little man helping me in the kitchen.  he loves to "help". i'm sure he was making truck noises for the mixer, though. all boy, he is.

  • went downtown with our photographer this afternoon to shoot jeremiah's 1 year pictures (a few weeks late).  he had just woken up and is cutting molars so i'd have to say he wasn't just the happiest camper but i always see the pictures when we are done and am amazed at what she can catch when i think we didn't get much of anything.

here is my wild little boy.

  • happy spring to you.

it's actually starting to feel like spring more these days.  my husband made a little garden for me this year.  i'm so excited.  our property is a bit difficult to find a space for a garden, which is why we have put all our veggie plants in our flower beds until this year.  i admit, the garden is at a bit of an odd place next to the driveway, but hey, i'm ready to give it a try.  and my herbs reseeded themselves from last year so i'm terribly excited to make an herb wheel garden in my big garden with the basil and oregano seedlings i have started along with the parsley, dill, thyme, and onions that came back from last year.  my new plantings in my mint garden are coming back strong too.  it was a beautiful thing to make my first batch of garden tea last week. we tilled lime and fertilizer into the new veggie garden last weekend and i transplanted my tomato seedlings into bigger pots. i get so excited about those tomato babies!  last year was such a lame gardening year for me with having a new baby.

jeremiah has been such a bad sleeper lately with a head cold like the rest of his family.  i'm so glad we are finally getting over head colds.  jeremiah didn't sleep well which meant i didn't sleep well and made me feel like i wasn't getting better because i wasn't getting my sleep.  i kept thinking this combination has got to pass one of these days. anyways, yesterday afternoon we came home from church and i knew j was tired but he was fighting sleep so badly.  he cried for an hour and a half in his crib until he finally slept--for almost 3 hours.  i hate letting him cry like that but maybe i baby him too much when he doesn't feel well and then he gets into this bad habit of not sleeping well. so then we have to go back to letting him cry it out so he figures out to sleep by himself.  hard on my nerves but it seems like he is so much happier then after he wakes up.  he slept so well last night and is a happy little camper this morning. he turns 1 this weekend and we're very excited to have all four of his grandparents, some of the uncles, and 1 aunt coming this weekend!  makes my week exciting even before they get here!

three very practical, but so worthwhile book recommendations for anyone who cares:  the book of romance by tommy nelson, 12 essentials for godly success by tommy nelson, and shepherding a child's heart by tedd tripp.  maybe you all have read them but i thought they are great books to buy and keep in my library as we seek to glorify Christ in all we do.

i had another good day at cvs! got 3 boxes of kleenexes, crest pro-health toothpaste, edge shave gel, adidas deodorant, old spice clinical protection, a package of huggies refill wipes, and two boxes of gerbers veggie crackers for toddlers all for $1.85 plus i got about $7 to spend next time. jeremiah is loving his new little crackers.

we had a baptism on easter sunday in our little church and then one in the home of an elderly lady yesterday.  it made our easter service all the more special to see a physical reminder of why Christ died for our sins.

enjoy your week!  i can hardly believe we're getting to the end of april!  i often am thinking back these days to how desperate i was to have my baby this time last year! so glad he is with us now!
